Sony 40EX720 Review
Sony 40EX720 40-Inch 1080p 3D LED HDTV
Review By “Only Human”
First of all:
At first I had the Samsung UN40D6500 was not satisfied with this unit and then I have ordered the Sony 40EX720. After I have ordered the Sony, I have compare side by side with Samsung.
Picture quality
What struck me though is that once the movements are displayed on the Sony lot better and smoother than that of the Samsung, which I am ultimately hopes for the Sony. So I was not disappointed.
From the picture I must say was not very much different, the Samsung look, probably because of the glossy displays, only sometimes brilliant (bright colors) but from the picture on the Sony look natural. (You can also play around very long until you have found for yourselves the right adjustment, because you can very much to adjust the picture settings.)
Design
Visually I like the Sony is also look very good, although the frame is a little thicker than the Samsung’s. The Sony frame is completely unlike the Samsung black (piano black finish, and brushed metal below) and does not have the acrylic / glass frame look at the outer edge.
Clouding
Clouding can be seen in completely dark room and a little black picture, but I would say the Samsung was a tick higher. For the Sony I have noticed some flashlight effect on the left and lower right corner, however, only in completely dark room and a black image.
Menu
The XMB menu (known by the PS3) I personally like it better than the Samsung menu. The scenes (different picture settings General, cinema, sports, games … etc) are solved with the Sony better and can be changed quickly.
The Internet functions, the Sony also run much faster than the Smart Hub from Samsung. The Sony remote can also control the PS3 via HDMI CEC power and menu. (Practical look at Blu Ray on the PS3 without having to use the controller)
Video Games
While playing I’m just as happy! The streaking, blurring and stuttering are no longer present, everything runs super smooth and looks great. The input lag is less well filled, at least for me is not noticed. Assassins Creed Revelations, beautifully in 1080p.
Sound Quality
The sound via the two built-in speakers for normal TV at this low profile design is ok, otherwise I will be at about optical out (for now; HDMI ARC now also possible) are relayed to a Onkyo and then a feeling of pure cinema:) See All Customer Reviews
