KDL LCD TV 40V5100 Review
Sony KDL 40V5100 Review by : “B.Freakz”
In my long search for a new full HD TV to replace my old 82′er tube should be at Sony: High Contrast (100.000:1), an internal DVB-T receivers, slender frame, USB port, LAN connection and internet compatible – and I had been looking forward.
Under the scheme, which you can manage well alone, the TV starts and performs a quick tour of the basic settings. The menu is java-based and already known from the PS3 – it’s appealing good looks.
The remote control makes a good impression: big buttons, fit to hands and the hit is the control field with the Enter button in the middle and round in a circle the and in a second circle a number command buttons. Very handy. Large, tactile keys!
After 3 weeks my conclusion:
1. Image Quality: The picture quality is the absolute cream. With blu ray no question, there are probably all full HD Tv impressive. But what about when connected my analog cable TV? And like the old DVD or video file content (*. avi, *. mpeg, *. wmv)? There, too, has the Sony KDL-W5720 (a modification of the w5500), my skepticism completely out of the way!
The image is reasonably sharp and intelligent improved a stunner. Contrasting sequences are already considered very, very sharp detail, and in dark scenes has been this effect of the bright squares (artifacts) in the image barely – unlike when I got to know there equipment before 1 years in others. Black is always full and we can not see where the picture stops and starts the frame of the TV.
2. Sound: It’s ok, I no longer expected. To contribute to the impression of an adequate picture sound impression, you should absolutely join a potent surround system. Even the TV sound can be sent over there stereo RCA or optical out. Very classy! Up to this point I was completely happy with the TV.
3. USB connector: The USB port connects the side largest Stick (32 GB) without complaint. MP3 and photos will be viewed without complaint, a 90MB-MP3 (duration 70 minutes) will be quickly scanned and can be mad quickly from front to back! Madness !!!!!
Even my small 120GB hard drive 1.8 “is recognized by the USB port and quickly read! Toll!
4. Play Movie: Although it is advertised that the TV can also play back video content via USB or network, I have not yet managed to give him to eat even one successful too. Video so I can give only the USB port on the Blu Ray player or the DVD player, or bring it directly from your PC via VGA port on the screen. Too bad it would be just a software update from Sony need to do this.
5. Network and Internet capability. Frankly I had expected more of them. The Internet capability is limited to a collection is useless like a weather report or Sony’s own advertising. As can an iPhone or a cell phone much more.
To use the network to the TV you have to integrate into the network, what else is easy. But content can only get when it provides a DLNA server, so the TV can access them (streaming).
Whatever the case, if I configure the machine only be costly in order to play in the end only the same content on the TV to that I get faster and more convenient than USB on the TV, I wonder why all should be good.
My Conclusion : A great TV (great picture in all respects, Express picture-in-picture and picture-on-picture), who inspired me, but only because of his qualities as an excellent monitor and TV. As a hub for Multimedia it is good for a Home Theater Receiver or PC.
