Philips 40PFL5706/F7 40-inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD TV with Net TV [Black]

Review By “Concierge 11″

philips 40pfl5706 f71 Philips 2011 LCD HDTV 40PFL5706 /F7 ReviewsHi, I would like to share my newly acquired television, Philips 40PFL5706/F7 LCD TV 2011.

I bought this TV because I was using a previous model, the “Philips 42PFL7403″ in some respects was not quite so happy. These problems are eliminated with the new device all together.

I must say the Philips 40PFL5706/F7 has not disappointed me! I have finally found my dream TV and am completely satisfied! No Clouding, super sharpness of movement and the Ambilight. .. A dream, if you have the room a little darker. You don’t want to miss it no longer – unique!

The Philips 40PFL5706/F7 has a nice design. The sturdy base had to be secured with an Allen wrench. The first start was by a very simple and intuitive Install menu. After about half an hour the unit was fully furnished, including channel scan. Skipped Menu items can be activated individually later.

Well I like the matte screen, but very sharp picture of Philips. Compared to its predecessor, again an improvement, particularly in the SD programs. HDTV or especially the playback of Blu-Ray are simply first class!

At the sound, unfortunately I cannot say much because I connected a system. However In the first set, its sounded quite reasonable and good for small speakers. I use an AV receiver from Yamaha and a 5.1 speaker system. This means I need only one HDMI, the BD player is connected through the receiver.

Record programs:
I have an external USB 2.5 inch – 160GB hard drive connected without a separate power supply. This will only be accepted if it is reformatted on the menu and is managed exclusively through the television. The recording of a broadcast can be launched from the ‘Program Guide’ (TV Guide) in the home menu, to achieve anything quickly, a TV Guide button on the remote control would be even better.

The Program Guides has a preview of eight days. Because I have a fast Internet connection, navigating is quite fast. I could not detect a loss of quality. In the program guide still free disk volume is displayed in percent. Who wants to record a lot, should take a larger harddisk.

Internet:
For me, a LAN connection is established. WiFi, I have not tested. You have to register once and receive a confirmation email, then log in automatically in the background I can via the “Program Guide” or app to “online TV” and thus access to a week library. Can be easily accessed via the home network on my laptop, for example, to display images or play MP3.

Additional feature for owners of iPhone and Android smartphones: There is the free app “Philips myremote”. So you have a remote control that is very clear and comprehensive. Also eliminates the problem with the lack of keyboard.

I can use the small (but excellent) remote of my Blu-Ray Players Philips BDP7500B2 to operate fully with Philips 40PFL5706/F7. This was detected during the initial configuration and will appear in the home menu, although it is only indirectly connected via the AV receiver. This works well when the receiver is in standby.

My AV receiver turns off automatically after switching on the TV. Thus sufficient for the operation of the small remote control. I think the whole thing is called Philips EasyLink.

Overall I am very satisfied and can only recommend the Philips 40PFL5706/F7.
