Panasonic L42E3 Review
Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E3 42-Inch 60 Hz 1080p LED HDTV
Review By “Mr.Charles”
After 12 years, our tube TV (finally) passed, hurray! Since earlier I had build a multimedia computer, I wanted with the new TVs that have the same features including Internet and media access on the LAN. So I decided on Panasonic because It meet my needs perfectly.
Now I have the unit about 3 months and I’m very happy with the device.
TV set up and connected to cable and satellite network. The installation went quickly and completely. I started to sort the stations in a favorites list. It was very easy to do. Then I set the picture for my needs. The setting are very extensive. I could easily adjust everything to my desires as I wanted.
The remote control has large buttons which keys are valid for what, is displayed in the respective TV Menu, so very simple.
I’ve also bought the Panasonic HDMI Cable for full compatibility with other Panasonic devices (Viera). Bluray, AV receivers, etc. can be controlled as easily. The audio output provides plenty of power, so that on my little 5.1 Additional Panasonic AV Receiver also correct what comes out.
For the picture, HD broadcast are good to excellent, depending on the broadcast material. SD material on the other channels are not as good as expected but acceptable. The picture of a BluRay is superior to any doubt. Better than my previous plasma (also from Panasonic). Even when playing a normal DVD, the pictures, even by the excellent black levels, vividly with much depth. Just great. So five stars from me for the picture!!
Another interesting features:
- Access to Internet services (eg video on demand, Internet radio)
Then I was really excited. Panasonic offered IPTV feature to access a variety of Internet services such as movie trailers, Internet radio, YouTube, evening news, Facebook, weather, etc., there are everything for everyone. With an optional camera can even make a video conference via Skype.
- Access to media stored centrally (server on the LAN), pictures, movies, video
Due to the DLNA certification it is easily to access DLNA media server (at the directory level). Several NAS systems offer such a thing. I did it first time with a DLNA media software attempts on the server. Works immediately. Pictures, music and videos are run smoothly, without waiting. iPad can also control the TV. There is also one of Panasonic app in the Appstore. It is basically a replacement for the remote, it’s good for writing Facebook in more convenient than the remote control. However, the app runs with me not very stable, but is usable.
- Recording
The recording is easy to use. Go with the hard disk (2.5 inch, 500 GB) easily. It should be noted that the disk is formatted by the TV and then can not be read by the PC. The HDD can be only (!) Read by this TV. So an exchange with other identical devices is not possible.
Anyone looking for a HDTV, access to the world of media and the Internet enables, provides a very good picture, it looks good and economical, also is to use very simple and has integrated many things which my heart desires.
