Sony 46EX720 Reviews
Sony 46EX720 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV [Black]
Review By “Marty”
The 46EX720 should be the central video playback device for Multimedia PC, Blu-Ray player and any gaming console, the details I have provided the following requirements:
- Good picture quality
- Great design
- Matte screen
- Triple-Tuner (DVB-S2 connection)
- Network connection / DLNA / Internet
Initially, it should be the Panasonic P46ST30, thanks to the amazing brightness feature, however, the burn-in effect with plasma panels still to be an issue, so I’m switched to LED.
Here I noticed particularly the KDL-46EX720, mainly due to the consistently positive reviews on the websites and forums.
After a good 6 weeks of continuous use, I can now write the following conclusion:
- Setting up the TV works very simply through a guided setup, in my case has lasted the whole 3 minutes.
- The sorting station, which has been criticized by many forums, I was never faced with major problems.
- The complete management of the TV happens to the one on the Playstation XMB menu system modeled.
- A definite added value “BRAVIA Sync,” about which can be connected via HDMi Sony BluRay player, AV receiver and the Playstation remote control with the TV remote control. I’ve tested the whole with a Playstation and a BDP-S480, Pioneer VSX 921, work well.
- The picture is razor sharp in HD and otherwise a real experience. I think everyone else is comparable LED TVs in this price class. I have looked at several other brands of LEDs, the EX720 has promised me right away at most.
- This is one of the few Sony LED with a matte display, which is depending on the light really essential for a great movie experience. The combination of LED back-lighting, 240Hz Motionflow and the new X-reality image processor seems really succeeded.
- Clouding there is minimal, but it is really only the experienced eye.
- The sound quality: For normal television (cooking shows, documentaries …) the audio quality is quiet well, but definitely lacking for action movies more pressure. However, the EX720 can be output directly from a connected via HDMI Receiver -> Just go to the BRAVIA Sync menu “audio speakers” checkbox, and then finished.
- Gaming: For me, yet not so important who is still interested: Input lag seems to be no issue with this TV …
- Firmware update: The input of the current firmware is quite simple. The entire file must be downloaded from the Sony site and then extracted to a USB memory stick’s root directory. Once the USB drive was connected to the TV, the import will start automatically after a few minutes there is the success message.
- The Internet gadgets all work perfectly and quite fast, In addition, “important” functions such as Internet video and TrackID (works really great) are controlled directly from the remote.
Overall a great TV with the good picture quality of Sony, which makes most colors appear very natural. Simply look at the market. This TV has almost all functions that are currently offered on the market, and leaves nothing to be desired at this price. >> More Reviews
