Sony 60 inch EX 700 Series Reviews
Sony Bravia EX700 Series 60-Inch LCD with LED back-lighting HDTV [KDL-60EX700]
KDL-60EX700 Review By “Raymond R.”
I ordered the KDL-60EX700 to replace an aging 42-inch Panasonic plasma since it was only HD Ready and I would like to enjoy a full HD image in conjunction with a larger screen size. One reason for the purchase was the Triple tuner on the EX700 – I did not buy extra satellite receiver which I can provide high-definition programs.
For me the most important point, but perhaps for some readers. The device is relatively flat, and is kept in simple black with a gray bar at the bottom, when switched it off it looks like a picture frame made of glass. The workmanship is good and my partner liked the design too. The remote control is solid and stylish.
The menu is very user friendly and has many functions. In comparison to other TVs, I found the Sony menu very very intelligent, but unfortunately a little slow. If it would be a bit faster, it would be perfect. The channel switching could also go a bit faster. The remote control is well structured and processed.
The picture is very good for our taste. HD Movies on Bluray are clearly reproduced with high color brilliance. HD TV channel looks sharp. SD movies are considered good to my surprise, for the large size of the TV. In comparison to older LCD TVs, the image processing of the Sony’s is really good – thank to the BRAVIA Engine 3. The size of the TV shows, in particular, in games or on the Internet on the PS3 in HD mode websites are easy to read, despite the high resolution. And also in the fast moving pictures are crisp and fluid.
If you connect a Playstation as Bluray / Internet / Games Box has a full-fledged multimedia center. Nice is that the TV automatically starts when the PS3 is turned on and that the menu is very similar. Communication via HDMI works thanks to super producer equality – both devices can be operated via remote of KDL.
Will you use the Internet Video feature of the TV, what’s there only because of the ease of software updates are performed automatically be recommended, should be ordered like the Sony USB wi-fi adapter. You can also use the DLNA capability of the device.
The internal TV speakers I have only briefly tested, since I use a separate receiver as a surround amplifier via the optical audio output of the KDL operates. The quality of the internal speaker is really good, if you are not much interest in the deep bass.
Conclusion
I am fully satisfied and my next purchase will the Sony product line. This also applies to other devices. The TV offers a compelling price / performance ratio. Very good picture, very good quality, great service at a fair price. What more could you want?
Price: $2,698.00 (Feb 2011)
