Why I was interested in this TV:

- Great design.
- 55 inches for HD broadcasts and Blu-Ray in my opinion perfectly.
- Low power consumption.
- Very good sound for an LED TV for normal operation.
- The frame in stainless steel finish is perfect for my living room furniture.
- Freedom of the web browser supports Flash and Smart Hub as multimedia software platform I find awesome. Operation with the best a smartphone!

Construction:
===================
The device is quite easy for its size and I could easily set up the TV alone. The construction and installation go very fast and can be done alone.

Picture quality: color, contrast and black levels
======================================
In comparison to the 2011 series, the UN46ES8000 definitely better color, contrast and better black levels – all you need really. Even in our living room with a full glass front to the south blow you the colors and the contrast is easy – even in bright sunshine. I have regulated the brightness of the LED backlights down a bit: from 13 to 12, which I find perfectly.

In addition I have set the contrast from 100% to 95%. Otherwise, I have not made any adjustments. However there are tons of picture options and image enhancement options. I have not changed except for the above mentioned issues.

The changes that are made are displayed immediately and you immediately see how the image changes. The menu will be reduced if necessary to see more of the picture. Very good!

Short summary:
Perfect colors. The defaults are already very good, not much has to be adjusted here.

Picture quality: Built-in digital TV tuner

The picture quality of the built-in digital TV tuner is excellent! The normal picture shown upscaled beautifully on the huge screen.  In Formula 1, football or fast scrolling text, there is no streaks can be seen ’every blade of grass’ with football match in HD – wow. The image is extremely smooth and not jerky.

Best representation of the TV image.

Picture Quality: DVD and Blu-Ray

DVD and most of all Blu-Ray movies are stunning. Animated films such as Avatar and Megamind are incredibly sharp and detailed. Friends and acquaintances are immediately blown away by the detail, sharpness and color depth. The picture is even with the camera panning BUTTER SOFT – I have never seen before. This is probably due to the 240 Hz  and CMR of 960. There is nothing to say except: PERFECT!

Short summary:
Amazingly good and unusually fluid image.

3D
==
3D films look really good in my opinion and come get close to the reference a plasma TV – not quite, but almost. The 3D image is much brighter than previous models. The shutter glasses sync perfectly and the picture has very little ‘crosstalk effects’. Nor is there any flickering or shaking of the image. Avatar in 3D is better than the cinema version. A Unique Experience!

Short summary:
3D is really fun and is better than the movies. Avatar in 3D is the reference film at the moment and shows what the TV.

AllShare Play
===========
AllShare works perfect and responds quickly, the TV is no configuration my network drive (WD) with the movies, music and photos. Even my laptop is immediately suggested as a source when it is turned on (there is also a DLNA support).

Smart Hub: Apps and Update
========================
The Smart Hub system there (makes everything easy on the TV) many (also useful) apps for download, just like smartphone. Apps is the focus on entertainment, sports and news.

Smart Hub updated without prompting automatically when the availability of new updates, as well as the firmware. Alternatively, you can also do it manually. Nice idea.

Short summary:
Samsung makes use of the possibilities – there are relatively frequent updates. So far no problems and no loss of settings made.

Remote Control:
==============
Good, illuminated remote control in the standard design – very compatible with Samsung’s 2011 Blu-ray players. (For Smart Touch Remote, I didn’t try yet).

Complete Summary:
=================
A great TV, I have described up to the point (for me are just little things) nothing wrong with the unit. It’s just really fun. I give 5 stars because the most important to me on a TV is still a picture quality and a good sound. The finds here everything at the highest level.
